E311coverage - playwisegaming.com
E3 2011 starts tomorrow, June 6, and there is a 100 percent chance that tons of videogame news will come from its tech-laden announcements. While we can say with certainty that not every single piece of E3 news will appear on playWISE, we can at least claim that all the best information from E3 might make an appearance — we don’t exactly get paid for this, so cut us some slack.

However, we know for sure that we’ll be able to liveblog the three major conferences. Below, you’ll find the conference schedules, links to our liveblogging pages with their corresponding RSS feeds, and links to the live broadcasts. Let the game announcements begin!

Dawn of Discovery heads for the future in Anno 2070

Anno2070 - playwisegaming.comKiss the kings and colonies of yesteryear goodbye. The Anno series, an RTS world-sim known as “Dawn of Discovery” in America, is headed for the year 2070.

“Anno 2070″ will be set in the near future, but will still retain the traditional world-building mechanics of the previous entries in the series. With the last game being set an ominous 666 years earlier, it’s safe to say this will be a pretty big leap for the franchise.

Ubisoft DRM reduced but still present

Splinter Cell DRM - playwisegaming-comUbisoft quietly removed their highly restrictive PC-only digital rights management system from “Splinter Cell: Conviction” and “Assassin’s Creed II” on Jan 1 and claims that from now on the DRM will be used on a case-by-case basis.

The DRM, which has been widely despised among gamers, requires a constant connection to Ubisoft’s servers and, if interrupted, will instantly kick players from their games until they can reconnect.

UF students stage assassination to promote game tournament

Fuller assassinates students

John Fuller holds a sword out toward his attackers during a promotional "flash mob."

In front of the Turlington rock, 80 innocent bystanders witnessed the assassination of numerous University of Florida students on Friday afternoon. After the attack, students broke out into applause.

The violence was, in fact, simulated. It was all part of a promotions plan from Ubisoft campus representative Jay Uy. He set up the flash mob, or spontaneous street performance, in order to spread the word about a tournament for “Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood,” the latest action title from Ubisoft.

Lakeside dorm holds Just Dance tournament

Just Dance tourney

Lakeside residents competing in a "Just Dance" tournament.

The rugs of Lakeside Residential Complex at the University of Florida were officially cut on Wednesday evening during a heated videogame dance-off.

Ubisoft campus representative, Jay Uy, set up the “Just Dance” tournament in order to promote a larger upcoming “Just Dance 2″ tournament, which will coincide with the new game’s release. Uy said the dorm event, which drew about 40 people, was quite a success considering this was his first time setting up a dorm event.

“I think a lot of people loved the game. They’re still playing even though it’s pretty much over,” Uy said, motioning to a group of three people dancing while “Jerk it Out” by Caesars blared from the television speakers.
