Reggie Fils-Aime, President of Nintendo of America, broke the sad news to MTV yesterday that some major titles will not be released for the 3DS during the launch window announced at last week’s 3DS press conference.
“Mario, Zelda, all of those titles are coming,” said Fils-Aime. “From our perspective, we like to launch titles when they’re ready. And so they’ll be ready, they’ll be ready soon. Just not in that initial time period of late March to early June.”
The Regginator went on to say that more information about “Ocarina of Time,” “Kid Icarus” and “Mario Kart” will be made available at E3 in June and that those titles will be released sometime after E3.
With such major titles missing from the launch window, core gamers may be wondering what Nintendo has to offer them to convince them the 3DS pre-order was worth the money. “I would say ‘Super Street Fighter 4,’” said Fils-Aime, “I would say ‘Dead or Alive,’ I would say ‘Madden.’”
The 3DS will be available March 27 at a price of $249.99. Titles that will be making the launch window include “Nintendogs + Cats,” “Pilotwings Resort” and “Steel Diver.”
